What Is a 60 Degree Press Brake Die?

A 60 degree Press Brake Die is a lower bending die with a 60° V groove or forming profile. It works together with an upper press brake punch to bend sheet metal into acute angles, custom profiles or pre-formed shapes.

Compared with standard 90° press brake dies, a 60° die is more suitable for parts requiring sharper angles, controlled springback compensation or special sheet metal forming geometry. V-die selection is important because the V-opening directly affects the inside radius, bending force and minimum flange length.

How to Choose the Right 60 Degree Press Brake Die

1. Confirm the Required Bend Angle

The required final angle should be evaluated together with material springback, punch angle and bending method. In air bending, the final angle does not depend only on the die angle; it is also affected by punch depth and material behavior.

2. Select the Correct V-Opening

The V-opening influences the inside bend radius, required tonnage, minimum flange length and surface marking. A wider V-opening usually lowers the forming pressure but increases the inside radius and minimum flange length.

3. Check Sheet Thickness

Different sheet thicknesses require different V-openings and bending force. Before ordering, confirm the thickness range used in your production.

4. Consider Material Type

Carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum have different bending characteristics. Stainless steel generally requires higher bending force, while aluminum may need careful bend radius control to reduce cracking.
