If the target finished angle is 90°, an 88° die may help provide the necessary overbend space. The final result still depends on material type, sheet thickness, punch angle, V-opening and press brake settings.
The V-opening should match the sheet thickness and required bend radius. A smaller V-opening can produce a tighter bend but may require higher tonnage, while a larger V-opening can reduce forming force but creates a larger inside radius.
Carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum have different springback behavior. Stainless steel usually has more springback than mild steel, so tooling and machine settings should be selected carefully.
