Trumpf Type
Trumpf Type
Compatible with press brakes: LVD, Trumpf, Darley, Safan and NSCL. At Cnstamp, our Trumpf‑type press brake tooling is designed to provide consistent bending accuracy and service life for demanding sheet metal applications. Each set of tooling is manufactured to match the geometric standards and clamping interfaces used on Trumpf press brakes, ensuring precise fit and reliable performance on compatible machines.
The performance of tooling starts with material and heat treatment. Cnstamp tooling is made from high‑strength tool steels selected for toughness and wear resistance. Controlled quenching throughout the body delivers the required hardness for bending operations, while laser hardening is applied to key contact surfaces where durability is most critical. This combination helps maintain accurate bending angles and extends the working life of both punches and dies under repeated loading.
Tooling profile and precision machining determine how well a tool performs during bending. Cnstamp punches and dies are machined with strict attention to dimensional tolerances so that each bend matches the intended angle and radius. For Trumpf‑type tooling, the die opening, punch angle, and surface flatness are all controlled to ensure that the tooling engages correctly with the press brake and yields stable bending results, whether for simple V bends or more complex shapes.
● Standard V‑shape tooling — Used for conventional bending angles (for example 90°), with different lower die V‑opening sizes to match material thickness and bending force requirements.
● U‑shape tooling — Used when specific channel forming or return features are required.
● Flattening tooling — Employed to flatten bent edges or reduce rebound after bending.
● Z‑dies — Used for single‑pass Z‑shape bends where a defined offset is needed.
● Gooseneck punches — Used for bends between 30° and 180°, especially where adjacent bends or interference areas require clearance for the punch body.
Trumpf‑type tooling can be segmented to match machine table length and specific job requirements. Standard segment lengths such as 835 mm, 800 mm, and 500 mm are typical starting points, but tooling can be arranged into combinations that suit material width and bending sequences. Segmented tooling allows operators to arrange tools quickly, reduces handling difficulty for long tooling sets, and supports a range of workpiece sizes without the need for a single long tool.
This approach also makes it feasible for one operator to handle segments independently, improving safety and handling ease during changeovers. Proper calibration between segments ensures uniform bending accuracy along the entire tooling length.
When preparing tooling for a specific job, pairing the correct punch with a matching die is essential:
● Punch hardness and shape must align with die opening and intended bend angle.
● Punch shapes such as gooseneck or straight profiles are chosen based on access to previously formed bends.
● Die shapes and V‑opening sizes are selected based on material thickness and required bend forces.
● Correct punch/die combinations help achieve repeatable bending results and reduce the risk of material deformation or surface marking.
Selecting the right tooling requires clear information about the bending task. For effective tooling recommendation, provide:
● General drawing of the final part shape, including bend radius and dimensional tolerance.
● Material grade and plate thickness.
● Surface finish requirements to avoid scratches or marks.
● Press brake model, tonnage, and table length.
● Any special requirements for precision or repeatability.
● Any additional constraints or production priorities (for example high batching or frequent changeovers).
● Ensure tooling seats fully and evenly in the press brake clamping system.
Remove debris, oil, and metal chips from tool surfaces before setup to prevent misalignment.
● Check the press brake’s parallelism and ram alignment to avoid uneven bending forces.
● Periodic inspection of punches and dies identifies wear early, allowing replacement before part quality is compromised.
